Course summary

Students read widely across a range of literature from different genres (drama, poetry and prose) in order for thoughtful connections to be made between texts.There is an emphasis on comparing the thoughts, feelings and attitudes of different writers and the influences of shared contexts upon their works, as well as analysing the use and effect of form, structure and language. We also offer visits to A Level Literature study conference.All students will be entered for the AQA A Level Literature qualification at the end of Year 13. Component 1: (40%) Love Through the Ages: Shakespeare, Poetry, and Prose: Study of one play, one novel and one collection of pre-1900 poetry Students will also be examined on two ‘unseen’ poems.
