Written examination: ‘Open book’ in Section C only (novel and poetry collection) Component 2: (40%) Texts in Shared Contexts Students explore aspects of literature that are connected through a clearly defined time period: Option A: WW1 and its Aftermath. Study of one prose text, one collection of WW1 poetry and one drama text, at least one of which must be written post-2000. Students will also be examined on an ‘unseen’ extract. Component 3: (20%) Comparative essay on two texts (2500 words), one of which must be pre-1900, linked by a common theme or an aspect of context. One text will be taught in class. Students are expected to choose and study the second text independently.
