Art Photography

Course summary

Content Photography is recommended for students who wish to express their experience and awareness of the visual world through the creative processes of image making. The course encourages an adventurous and enquiring approach to lens based media, which is nurtured through a range of digital and traditional photography processes on offer. As well as making images, students are encouraged to reflect on their own work and on the work of others. This integral aspect of the course is developed through visits to exhibitions both locally and abroad. The course is taught through a variety of projects and processes including black and white photography, digital photography, Photo-Shop, animation and film. Students are encouraged to develop their skills and experiment with a variety of media before choosing to specialise in a particular media and theme. Photography can also be taken alongside the art and design course. It is a demanding course and requires a high level of commitment, motivation and self-discipline. A camera is a requirement of the course. Career Routes Both AS and A2 level photography are recognised qualifications for entry into all universities and are particularly useful for careers involving every aspect of design, architecture, media and the arts generally.
