Long Crendon School

The school aims to make whole-class learning environments dyslexia friendly and provides dyslexia-friendly library books.

“One of our strategies to support the children is to focus on making the whole classroom environment dyslexia friendly and a part of that can be choosing appropriate fonts for printed text. We also have a range of books designated as dyslexia friendly in the library.”

Buckinghamshire Council partnered with Autism Early Support to provide parents with unlimited access to a neurodivergence support tool.

“We wanted to let you know about a support tool called The Parent Portal that Buckinghamshire Council have partnered with a local charity, Autism Early Support, to allow Bucks parents unlimited access to.”

The school prioritises the mental wellbeing of children and staff and helps pupils navigate social and emotional challenges.

The adapted Jigsaw PSHE curriculum teaches children to recognise and promote their own wellbeing.

Forest School provides outdoor practical learning and supports stress reduction through activity and mindfulness in nature.

“Forest School helps children to get outside and learn in a different environment and gain skills in practical areas and to also reduce stress by being active and mindful within nature.”

Outdoor learning, especially Forest School, is strongly emphasised and supported by the school's extensive site.

“We have a strong emphasis on outdoor learning, particularly Forest School, on our extensive site. Our facilities are amazing for a primary setting and we make the most of this for the benefit of the pupils at the school.”
