Homer First School and Nursery

Parents and carers are involved in meeting their child's needs and can contact the school's named SENCOs.

“As parents and carers, you are fully involved at every stage of meeting your child's needs, should you wish to discuss your child’s needs please contact the school’s SENCOs Mrs Young and Miss Noon via the school office.”

The school names its designated and deputy safeguarding leads.

“We have a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL) that can be seen on posters around school. Our DSLs are Gemma Sharma (Headteacher) and Elaine Young (Deputy Headteacher & SENCO) our Deputy DSL is Ellie Noon (Deputy SENCO)”

The school places children's social, emotional and mental wellbeing at its heart and develops positive relationships, confidence and resilience.

“The social and emotional wellbeing and mental health of the children at Homer First School & Nursery is at the heart of our school. We pride ourselves on the support we provide in ensuring that all children at Homer build positive relationships by providing them with opportunities to develop their social and emotional skills. We recognise the importance of emotional wellbeing in achieving in all areas of school life and the importance this has on developing confident and resilient learners.”

The school offers creative and performance opportunities including concerts and productions.

“- The Arts –we offer a wide range of opportunities throughout the school to enhance creativity, self-esteem and performance e.g. Rock Steady Concert, end of year and Christmas productions, to name a few.”

Pupils contribute through fundraising, gardening and environmental groups, charity support, and peer-support roles.
