Grounded facts across the criteria we scanned — each carries its source. Editorial content stays separate.
SEND
Richard Hale School has a dedicated SEND department (Student Support Centre) led by a SENCo, providing individual, small-group, and in-class support.
“Our SEND department is led by Mrs Morris. We work with students to support their learning needs to enable them to be able to make progress. The team based in the Student Support Centre work with students individually, in small groups and support some lessons.”
Ofsted found pupils with SEND/EHCPs are well supported, with key workers, Pupil Passports outlining targets, and well-trained teaching assistants adjusting support levels.
“Pupils with educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) are well supported. Those with an educational, health care plan benefit from having a key worker who advocates for them. ‘Pupil Passports’ outline pupils’ short-term targets. These guide any support and adaptations to teaching that pupils need and are implemented effectively. Well-trained teaching assistants know how to adjust their level of support for pupils.”
Pastoral
Form Tutors are the first point of contact for wellbeing concerns, with escalation to a dedicated Sixth Form Welfare & Support Officer and Heads of Year.
“The first port of call for any concerns about wellbeing is your Form Tutor. Our Sixth Form Welfare & Support Officer, Ms Hannah Skellorn (hsk@richardhale.co.uk) and Heads of Year can also be approached for help and they can make a referral to our Student Support Team who will help to secure the most appropriate support.”
School describes a pastoral system providing individualised academic and personal support throughout a student's school life.
“Ensure the personal well-being and safety of every student through use of the pastoral system which recognises individual differences and needs, but which systematically provides both academic and personal support for individual students at every stage of their school life.”
