All referrals require an Education, Health and Care Plan or Statement of Special Educational Need.

Staff collaborate with learners, parents and external agencies to meet needs identified in each student's EHCP.

“With specialisms in work experience (WEX), careers guidance (CIAG) and Speech and Language interventions (SALT), all members of the team work in collaboration with our learners, their parents and external agencies in order to increase provision and meet the students needs, as identified in the Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).”

Wellbeing and emotional needs are supported through therapy and therapeutic provision.

“To achieve this it is crucial our students can be healthy, safe and have their emotional needs met and therefore we also focus closely on wellbeing via our therapy and therapeutic provision, including for some students the opportunity to access our waking day curriculum in our residential houses.”

Years 7 and 8 receive a gradual, nurturing transition into secondary school, mainly learning with one teacher.

“To aid this transition Year 7 and Year 8 are mainly taught by one teacher for the majority of the time. They will be slowly integrated into life at Broomhill Bank to allow the support and nurture that many felt at primary school to continue.”

A work experience programme is listed within the Sixth Form section.

The experiential programme includes long-term work experience, vocational college study and volunteering.

“Additionally, students will be expected to attend an experiential programme of study, based upon one of the following pathways; Vocational (College), long-term Work Experience Placements (WEX), Therapeutic Intervention or Volunteering.”

The experiential programme is intended to develop student autonomy and independence.

“This usually takes place on Fridays, and is used to develop a greater autonomy and independence in our students.”

The Sixth Form offers a broad and varied curriculum tailored to individual students.

“The curriculum offer in the Sixth Form is broad, varied and designed to meet the needs of each individual student.”

Students undertake an experiential pathway in college-based vocational study, work experience, therapeutic intervention or volunteering.

The relevant local authority is responsible for admissions of children with statements of SEN or Education, Health and Care Plans.

“The admission of children with Statements of SEN/Education Health and Care Plans to schools is a matter for the LA which has statutory responsibility for arranging their provision.”

Kent Education SEN Department coordinates referrals for children from Kent and other local authorities.

“All referrals for Kent and other local authority children, are coordinated by Kent Education SEN Department.”

Historically, students have used college placements as a route into further education.

“We have a very successful working relationship with the Hadlow Group of colleges, including West Kent College, Dartford College and Hadlow, and historically our students have used the placement as a springboard into further education opportunities.”

Across the three-year total of 165 leavers, 84.24% entered education, 1.82% employment, 7.88% training/internships/apprenticeships, and 6.06% were NEET.

In 2024–2025, there were 158 GCSE entries, with 50.6% graded 9–4 and 96.8% graded 9–1.
