The German School

School has a multi-professional support team (Beratungsquadrat) covering Social Education, Counselling, Educational Psychology and Safeguarding for pupils with SEND.

“The DSL Beratungsquadrat stands for the collaboration of a multi-professional team from school social work, school psychology, safeguarding and Special Educational Needs (SEN). In line with our mission statement "living together, learning together, creating together, building bridges together", we support and guide pupils, parents and staff in many matters relating to living and learning at our school.”

Counselling team liaises with the Safeguarding Team and occasionally external agencies like Social Services/Achieving for Children.

Students can choose two or three natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology) depending on a languages or science focus.

Sixth form (SEK II) offers the German International Abitur (DIA), plus optional IB or FOS (vocational-focused) qualifications.

Realschulabschluss pupils need an average grade of 2.5 in German, foreign languages, maths and a natural science to enter the qualification phase.

SEK I pupils who completed year 10 with a promotion certificate can be admitted to year 11; admission to year 12 is generally not possible.

Leavers go on to Oxford and Cambridge colleges, Russell Group and other UK universities, plus universities in Germany, Europe, and overseas (US/Canada).

Most students go on to study at university, mainly in German-speaking countries, with growing numbers choosing Dutch universities, plus UK, US and Canadian destinations.

English-language courses at Dutch universities are becoming increasingly popular. Of course, many school leavers stay on to study in the UK after their time at the DSL. US and Canadian universities are also on the list of destinations.”
