Assessment
All assessments are 2 hour written examinations, 80 Marks and are each worth 33.3% of the final A Level grade. Paper 1: Education with Theory and Methods: The role and functions of the education system and how it impacts on different social groups. How sociologists conduct their studies and the positive and negative aspects of different types of research. How these directly impact on the study of education. Paper 2: Topics in Sociology: Families and Households The relationship of the family to the social structure and social change, Beliefs in Society The relationship between social change and social stability, and religious beliefs, practices and organisations. Paper 3: Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods: Explanations of crime, deviance and social order, the social distribution of crime and how it is surveyed by the government. How sociologists conduct their studies and the positive and negative aspects of different types of research. How these directly impact on the study of crime.
