What will I be doing? A Level physical education is the study of exercise and sport in terms of human anatomy, health and achievement. It is also about improving the individual’s personal skills and performance(s) in a range of sports/exercises, which will then allow them to lead others in developing their personal skills and performance in sports/exercises.
Grade 5 in mathematics and English language or literature, 5-5 in GCSE combined science and 5 in either physical education or biology
The A Level in physical education is split into three sections: 1. Factors effecting participation in physical activity: This includes anatomy and physiology, skill acquisition and sport and society (2 hour written exam, 35% of final grade) 2. Factors affecting optimal performance in physical activity and sport: This includes exercise physiology and biomechanics, sport psychology and sport and society and technology in sport (2 hour written exam, 35% of final grade) 3. Practical performance in physical activity and sport: this includes students being assessed as a performer or coach in the full sided version of one activity, plus: written/verbal analysis of performance (Internal assessment, external moderation, 30% of final grade)
