Drama and Theatre Studies A-Level
Course summary
Component 1: Drama and Theatre Written Paper Students will study two contrasting set texts prescribed by the exam board practically as: actors, directors and designers. This study and exploration will inform their written examination. Students will also partake in multiple theatre trips to support the writing of their live theatre review. Component 2: Creating Original Drama Practical Students will explore a range of theatre methodologies by famous practitioners and use such methodologies to devise a piece of original drama as part of a group of actors. Students will track their progress through a workbook submitted in support of their final piece. Component 3: Making Theatre Practical For this component students must practically explore and interpret three key extracts each from a different play and complete two assessment tasks: formally present Extract 3 using practitioner methodologies to an audience and produce an individual reflective report analysing and evaluating their theatrical interpretation of all three key extracts studied.
