Assessment

There are 3 externally assessed examinations. Paper 1 (Markets and Business Behaviour) and Paper 2 (The national and global economy) are both 35% of the final mark and are both 2 hours long. Each paper comprises three sections: Section A comprises a range of multiple-choice and short-answer questions; Section B comprises one data response question broken down into a number of parts; Section C comprises a choice of extended open-response questions (essays), students select one from a choice of two. Paper 3 (Microeconomies and macroeconomics) is 30% of the final mark and is a synoptic paper and is also 2 hours long. This assesses content from all topics and students are required to apply their knowledge and understanding, make connections and transfer higher-order skills across all four themes. The paper comprises two sections. Each section comprises one data response question broken down into a number of parts, including a choice of from two extended open-response questions (essays).
