Course summary

The course aims to extend and deepen your knowledge and application of Mathematics to aid problem-solving and modelling of real-life situations. The Statistics module explores the use of data in everyday life and links well with Life Sciences, such as Biology, Geography, Sociology and Psychology. The Mechanics module looks at the forces and motions used by us all in everyday situations and links well with Physics. You will develop your ability to analyse and interpret information, manipulate mathematical formulae and problem-solving skills. Where will it lead? Mathematics is a very versatile subject and is useful for practically every career. It can be studied as a single subject at university, but it also pairs up particularly well in joint honours degrees, including Sciences, Economics, Business, Geography Astronomy and Languages. As well as Mathematics being a well-respected A-level and degree, the skills of logic developed and the knowledge which you will have learnt is useful in an array of future careers – not just accountancy!
