Course summary

There can be no doubt that ICT is the future, it continues to expand and become important for all aspects of human life. This new and exciting course encourages you to develop crucial computing and design skills whilst teaching you about the internal workings of the computer. You will study how to use ICT as an important communication tool and learn about the online world and the importance of networking and the Internet and why it is so important. By the end of the course you will have a good understanding of how data is used in a computer system, how important networking is and how the Internet can be used in the most beneficial way. You will know how companies use social media to promote their business and you will be able to use multiple languages to develop a website. You will be able to create, upgrade and update, all of which are essential skills for the modern workplace.

Entry requirements

Useful: A keen interest in ICT. Desirable: CS/ICT/iMedia course studied at KS4. Essential: Maths and English

How you'll be assessed

Year 12: Unit 2 Creating Systems to manage Data (external set task on the computer). Unit 3 Business use of social media (internal coursework). Year 13: Unit 1 Information Systems (external written paper). Unit 6 Website Development (internal coursework).
