Course summary

In the first year of the course, students will study two mandatory units. Students who pass year one can progress to year two where they will study another mandatory unit as well as an optional unit, taken from the list below. This course is suitable for students with no prior knowledge of law. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of the role of law in today's society, alongside an awareness of the rights and responsibilities of individuals within an employment setting. Teaching is delivered by a variety of methods such as small group work, reports, controlled assessments presentations, quizzes, debates and practical research. The research undertaken by students will allow them to experience some of the practical, ethical and methodological issues that are necessary to progress to employment or university. Formal assessment will consist of: •External examinations •Internally set assignments •Externally set projects and tasks applied to a workplace or university setting. Work Experience All students are required to complete a minimum of 20 hours work experience in both year one and year two. This will help develop the personal qualities and skills required by universities and employers.
