Assessment

1. The Engineering Principles Exam It is important that you realize that Level 3 Engineering includes mathematical and scientific principles and that this will be part of the external exam. You will need to have a good understanding of Maths for the examined unit, and you will learn how Maths can be applied to Engineering problems. 2. The Internal Assessment You will complete an internally assessed portfolio of work that will be graded as either Pass Merit or Distinction. The topic will be based on safe working practices in Engineering and the use of computer-aided design. 3. The Product Design And Manufacture Exam You will be given a design task to complete in school by the exam board. This will be an assessment of your ability to design a solution to an engineering problem. This task will be externally assessed by the exam board. 4. The Optional Unit This unit will be chosen by the Engineering department and you will complete a folder of work for internal assessment.
