Art and Design (Fine Art)
Course summary
Students will be expected to explore a range of two and three dimensional media, processes and techniques. Each unit is assessed using four assessment objectives. Assessment Objective 1: Develop their ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding. Assessment Objective 2: Experiment with and select appropriate resources, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining their ideas as their work develops. Assessment Objective 3: Record in visual and/or other forms, ideas, observations and insights relevant to their intentions, demonstrating an ability to reflect on their work and progress. Assessment Objective 4: Present a personal, informed and meaningful response demonstrating critical understanding, realising intentions and, where appropriate, making connections between visual, written, oral or other elements. Students will be expected to explore drawing using a variety of methods and media on a variety of scales. Use of sketchbooks and journals should underpin the work. Work from one or more area(s) of fine art listed below will be required, these may be overlapped or combined to suit student’s particular strengths: - Drawing and painting - Mixed media - Sculp
