Assessment
This course has both internally and externally assessed components; methods of assessment include presentations and written assignments. Internally assessed units require students to: • Write up the findings of their own research • Use case studies to explore complex or unfamiliar situations • Carry out projects for which they have choice over the direction and outcomes • Demonstrate practical and technical skills using appropriate workplace values and practices. Externally assessed units: • The BTEC Level 3 National Diploma has two written exams, each lasting 1.5 hours and an externally assessed coursework task that lasts 3 hours. • The BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma has three written exams, each lasting 1.5 hours and an externally assessed coursework task that lasts 3 hours. Students in the Extended Diploma course are required to complete up to 100 hours of relevant work experience. If you study a BTEC Diploma and Extended Diploma course, you are expected to complete all the work required for the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate by the end of Year 12.
