Assessment

The full qualification is 4 units. These will be spread over 2 years. The units are assessed either by formal exams, externally set and marked practical assessments or by completion of a coursework portfolio, Nearly 60% is assessed externally. Year 1: Unit 1: Principles and Applications of Science – External exam on cells and tissues, periodic table and waves. Unit 2: Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques – Internally set and marked assignments including experiments from biology, chemistry and physics. Year 2: Unit 3: Scientific Investigation skills – Externally set and marked practical investigation on biology and physics topics. Plus 1 internally assessed biology unit.
