Assessment
Assessment includes both internal and external examinations. There are two external examinations per year, each assessment taken under specified conditions then marked by the exam body; Pearson. Learners must achieve a pass grade or above in all external assessments. External assessments are available twice a year and learners are permitted one resist attempt during the programmed. Internal examination includes traditional written coursework, word processed assignments, short practical reports, longer practical investigations, presentations, field trips, industry visits, research tasks, and more. Each unit is graded as pass, merit or distinction against specific assessment criteria; these grades are translated to a point score for each unit. The sum of the points total for each unit determines the overall grade. A student achieving three distinction grades for the course has a qualification equivalent to three A grades at A Level.
