This course is linear and will take two years to complete. At the end of your second year, you will sit your final assessments and submit the coursework. Component One: Drama Students study one Shakespeare play and one other drama from the genre of tragedy (‘Othello’ and ‘A Streetcar Named Desire’). Component Two: Prose Students will read two prose texts on a chosen theme and make analyse so that clear comparisons and points of contrast are identified (Kazuro Ishiguro’s ‘Never Let Me Go’ and ‘Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’). Component Three: Poetry Students will study a selection of post-2000 poetry (the anthology is provided) plus a specified range from a specific literary period (The Romantic period).
