Assessment

This course has both internally and externally assessed components. Internally assessed units require students to: • write up the findings of their own research • use case studies to explore complex or unfamiliar situations • carry out projects for which they have choice over the direction and outcomes • demonstrate practical and technical skills using appropriate equipment, procedures and techniques. Externally assessed units vary depending on whether studying the Extended Certificate, Diploma or Extended Diploma course. However, all external assessment involves written examinations in scientific investigations, physics, biology and chemistry units. If you opt to study the Diploma and Extended Diploma course, you are expected to complete all the work required for the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Certificate by the end of Year 12.
