To gain theoretical knowledge, understanding and practical learning in the management and setting up of a recording studio based on industry requirements. To develop the knowledge and skills to produce multi-track recordings, mix-down, execute editing and production processes using computer software, and apply basic concepts and practices employed in analogue and digital sound recording techniques. Enrichment trips will be organized to help students embed their understanding of aspects of music technology looked at during lessons. Students follow the NCFE Level 3 Applied General Certificate in Music Technology. This course is an equivalent of 1 A Level.
In order to study Music Performance, students must achieve at least five 9-4 grades at GCSE level. This should include English Language and Mathematics. It is not essential to have previously studied GCSE music or NCFE level 2
This will take the form of written assignments, presentations and assessed recording sessions of computer-based music projects. Peer assessment, formative assessment and teacher feedback will feature prominently in your lessons.
