Assessment
Year 1: There are regular topic assessments that students will sit in class so that teachers and students can gather an understanding of the progress they are making. This prepares students for their end of Year 12 internal exams in May/June, which mirror the AS-level exam structure. The end of Year 12 exam is made up of 2 x 1.5 hour papers which are worth 72 marks each. Both papers include multiple choice, short answer and extended writing responses. Year 2: The A-level is 100% examination. It is made up of 3 x 2 hour examinations which are each worth 96 marks. All 3 papers are composed of multiple choice, short answer (ranging between 2-6 marks) and extended writing (up to 16 marks) questions. Paper 1: Introductory knowledge in Psychology - Social Influence, Memory, Attachments, Psychopathology and Research methods. Paper 2: Psychology in Context - Biopsychology, Approaches to psychology and Research Methods. Paper 3: Issues and Options in Psychology - Issues and Debates in Psychology, Relationships, Schizophrenia, Forensic Psychology and Research methods.
