WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? This course is designed for students who have an interest in current affairs and politics generally. You might have enjoyed GCSE History or Citizenship and you might be interested in A Level Sociology, History, Law, Economics or Psychology. COURSE CONTENT: The aims and objectives of this qualification are to enable students to develop: - Knowledge and an informed understanding of contemporary political structures and issues in their historical context, both within the United Kingdom (UK) and globally - A critical awareness of the changing nature of politics and the relationships between political ideas, institutions and processes - Knowledge and an informed understanding of the influences and interests which have an impact on decisions in government and politics - Knowledge and an informed understanding of the rights and responsibilities of individuals and groups - The ability to critically analyze, interpret and evaluate political information to form arguments and make judgements - An interest in, and engagement with, contemporary politics. WHERE NEXT - POSSIBLE CAREER PROGRESSION? As well as pursuing careers involving politics, an A Level in this course would support a career in social and community work, economics, business and law.
