Course summary

Sociology is the systematic study of human society. In Sociology A Level you will learn about different sociological theories of society, and you will apply them to answer questions ranging from: ‘Is religion still important in the UK’ to ‘Are families still patriarchal?’ Throughout your studies you will also acquire knowledge of different research methods that sociologists use to better understand the social world. If you like to think about things from many perspectives, and if you are interested in people and the world in which we live, then this is an excellent course for you! With Sociology A Level you could go on to study almost any degree. If you loved the A Level you might want to particularly consider undergraduate degrees in Sociology, Politics, Psychology, Criminology, History or English. Sociology could also lead you to many careers which may include: politics, teaching, Law, social work and health care.
