Students will sit 3 exam papers at the end of the second year: Paper 1: Any content from topics 1– 5, including relevant practical skills. 85 marks: a mixture of short and long answer questions. External written examination, 34% of A level Paper 2: Any content from topics 6–8, including relevant practical skills. 85 marks: a mixture of short and long answer questions. External written examination, 34% of A level Paper 3: Section A: Compulsory section: Practical skills and data analysis Section B: Optional section. 80 marks: structured questions, including practical techniques. External written examination, 32% of A level Core practical skills are a non-examination assessment and are reported separately.
