Alongside this there is a practical assessment (15% of overall grade), as well as an extended coursework element (also 15% of final grade). Anatomy and physiology are the study of the body, its systems and how it responds to exercise. In this unit (studied in both years) you will learn about the differing body systems- musculoskeletal, respiratory, neuromuscular, cardiovascular, as well as how forces act on the body and how energy is produced. Sports psychology focuses on the performers mind. This unit (studied in both years) covers how performers learn skills, commit actions to memory and the theories related to personality, aggression, arousal, anxiety and the impacts of a crowd. This area looks at current issues facing athletes and sport today, the media, violence, drugs, and barriers to participation.
