Performing: Content overview: Approaches to performing Assessment overview: A performance of one or more pieces totalling 10-15 minutes. Performance can be playing or singing solo, in an ensemble, improvising, or realising music using music technology. The total performance time across all pieces must be a minimum of 10 minutes. Composition -Total of two compositions, one to a brief set by AQA and one either free composition or also to a brief. One composition must be a free composition in any style or genre, carrying 25 marks for this component. -One composition must be from a list of briefs assessing compositional technique, carrying 25 marks for this component. -Total time across both submissions must be a minimum of 4 and a half minutes. Listening and Appraising -Knowledge and understanding of musical elements, contexts and language. -Application of knowledge through the context of three areas of study, each with specific set works or set study artists. -Western Classical Music Pop Music Music for Theatre -Application of knowledge to unfamiliar works applying to the areas of study above
