Art and Design (Fine Art)

Course summary

Fine art requires engagement with aesthetic and intellectual concepts through the use of traditional and/or digital media, materials, techniques and processes for the purpose of self-expression. Fine art may be created to communicate ideas and messages, but also be used to explore personal and cultural identity, society and how we live. Fine art allows us to consider and reflect on our place in the world, both as individuals and collectively. This course will help develop practical, critical and contextual work in one or more areas of Fine Art. The areas in Fine Art to be explored could be; painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, fabric manipulation, land art, installation, printmaking, film, animation, television, video and photography, lens based and/or light-based media.
