Assessment

The new A Level is a stand-alone qualification that will be assessed by three written public examinations in the summer of year 13. Each 2 hour examination is equally weighted (100 marks/33.3% of total) and students answer 2 question (parts A and B) from each paper. Answers are in essay format. Each question is worth 50 marks and has 2 parts. Part A and tests both knowledge and understanding (AO1) and is worth 20 marks and part B and is 30 marks which tests evaluation and analysis (AO2). The overall weighting for each paper is 40% AO1 and 60% AO2.
