Course summary
It helps to develop students’ mathematical skills and thinking and supports courses such as A-level psychology, sciences and geography, as well as technical and vocational qualifications. Subject content: Compulsory - Analysis of data - Math's for personal finance - Estimation - Critical analysis of given data and models (including spreadsheets and tabular data) Optional - The normal distribution - Probabilities and estimation - Correlation and regression - Critical path analysis - Expectation - Cost benefit analysis LEARNING AND SKILLS: - Critical analysis of data, for example data presented in politics and the media - Communicating numerical data based on real contexts using graphs and indicators such as averages and measures of spread - Use of technology to analyze, process and present numerical data - Application of mathematical ideas to real financial contexts including loans and taxation - Making quick estimates of large numbers from limited information - Using project management techniques including critical path analysis and Gantt charts
