Assessment

1. Human Lifespan Development 1.5-hour examination with a mix of short and long answer questions. Learners cover physical, intellectual, emotional and social development across the human lifespan, and the factors affecting development and the effects of ageing. 2. Working in Health and Social Care 1.5-hour examination with a mix of short and long answer questions. You will explore what it is like to work in the health and social care sector, including the roles and responsibilities of workers and organisations 3. Enquiries into Current Research in Health and Social Care (Double Award ONLY) A task assessed under supervised conditions. Learners receive a choice of two articles to research six weeks prior to the assessment period. They have 18 hours research time and complete the assessment within 3 hours of supervised assessment time. You will explore the methodologies of contemporary research and investigate the implications for health and social care practice and services. 4. Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs Assignment: You will focus on the principles and practicalities that underpin meeting individuals’ care and support needs, which are the foundation of all the care disciplines. 7. Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care (Double Award ONLY) Assignment: You will explore the importance of safe working practices, safeguarding procedures and responding to emergency situations in health and social care settings. 8. Promoting Public Health (Double Award ONLY) Assignment: You will explore the aims of public health policy and the current approaches to promoting and protecting health and encouraging behaviour change in the population. 10 Sociological Perspectives (Double Award ONLY) Assignment: You will study the application of sociological approaches to health and social care, and explore social inequalities, demographic change, and patterns and trends in social group. 14. Physiological Disorders and their Care Assignment: You will explore types of physiological disorders, the procedures for diagnosis, and the development of a treatment plan and provision of support for service users.
