What will I learn? The qualification gives learners the knowledge, understanding and skills that relate to service provision, values, rights, responsibilities, different care settings, communication, health & wellbeing, understanding human behaviour and practitioner roles. How is the course structured? There are three mandatory units: Human Lifespan Development, Working in Health and Social Care, Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs. One further optional unit will be selected by the department from: Sociological Perspectives, Psychological Perspectives, Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs, Physiological Disorders and their Care.
25 points minimum at GCSE including a 4 in Maths and English. If students have studied a L2 Health & Social Care qualification they must have obtained a Merit in order to start the course. In order to study a Level 3 Vocational Course students will generally need to obtain a minimum total point score of 25, this is equivalent to 5 GCSE’s at Grade 5, these must include Mathematics and either English Language or English Literature.
Units 1 and 2 are assessed by 1.5 hour written examinations set by the exam board. All other units are assessed by completion of the coursework tasks for each unit, these are marked by your teachers and moderated by the exam board.
