There are 5 components to the A level Spanish qualification, these are: • Speaking • Writing • Translation • Listening • Reading The four themes that are covered within the course are: • Evolution of Spanish Society (including family and working life) • Cultural and Political movements within Spanish speaking countries • Immigration and the multi-cultural society • Franco’s dictatorship and transition to democracy
Useful: An interest in Spanish history, culture and society. Desirable: An ability to formulate a clear argument both verbally and through essay writing skills. Essential: A GCSE in Spanish.
Speaking 30% of the qualification - 2 speaking pieces to be delivered. 1 discussion, 1 presentation. Writing 30% of the qualification - a written response to 2 literary pieces Translation, Listening, and Reading 40% of the qualification.
