Course summary

The Performing Arts industry contributes approximately Four Billion to the UK economy? Do you enjoy performing and would like to pursue a career in the Arts? Do you have a passion for the theatre? This course is designed to create industry professionals for stage and screen and develop essential academic skills and knowledge needed for a future in performance related careers. You will develop performance skills including acting, voice and movement in a highly practical environment and develop essential research and written skills as you learn about different theatre companies and practitioner work. Complementary subjects include English Literature, History and Psychology. Unit 1: Practitioners in Practice • You will study 2 practitioners in depth and create a research report about them • You will study a text extract as a stimulus • You then create your own devised performance project based on your practitioners and text stimulus Unit 2: Exploring and Performing Texts • You will explore a play and perform 2 extracts from it Unit 3: Analysing Performance • You will study 2 set texts from a set theme that links them • You will also analyse a piece of live theatre that we go to see Unit 4: Deconstructing Texts for Performance • You will explore a set text • You will create your own concept for the text from the point of view of a director considering design elements, acting, directing
