External Assessment Paper 1 (1 hour) worth 20% Content is identical to SL Paper 2 (1 hour 30 minutes) worth 25% Content is identical to SL Paper 3 (2 hours 30 minutes) worth 35% Students write 3 essays. They study two units that follow each other chronologically Russia and the creation of the USSR 1855-1924 o The last 3 Tsars of Russia- Alexander II, Alexander III and Nicholas II o The Revolutions of 1905 and February and October of 1917 o The creation of a communist state under Lenin The USSR and post-Soviet Russia 1924-2000 o Stalin’s rule of the USSR- the creation of a state based on terror and obedience o Khrushchev and Brezhnev’s rule of the USSR- reform and then stagnation o The collapse of the USSR under Gorbachev and the new Russian state under Yeltsin Internal Assessment Students complete a historical investigation on a topic of their choosing.
