Course summary
The Tudors are our breadth study, 1485-1603. This includes looking at topics such as how Henry VII consolidated his position as king; the social and economic situation in England at the time and relations with Foreign Powers. It also includes fundamental changes brought about by the religious reformation at the time. The themes of Government, Religion, Rebellion and Foreign relations run through the whole period. The second key area of study is The Cold War. An in-depth look at a more recent period in World History that has had a major impact on the world we live in. Students will study the situation in Germany at the end of the Second World War and explore how The Cold War developed with the partition of Europe; the Korean war; Vietnam war and Cuban missile crisis. It also extends to the nuclear arms race and the space race.
