Course summary

As a geographer, you will examine environmental, social, political and economic changes and issues in both human and physical environments which are particularly relevant in today’s rapidly changing world. You will gain an appreciation of the geopolitical challenges that contrasting environments present, both now and in the future. The physical topics you will study are Hazards, Water and Carbon Cycles, Coastal Systems & Landscapes. The human topics are Changing Places, Contemporary Urban Environments and Global Systems and Governance. Geography is a very broad subject and complements a wide range of other A level courses, particularly; Biology, Sociology, History as well as English and Mathematics. Geography A level will provide you with a range of transferable skills which will appeal to any employers in future. The flexibility of Geography can provide opportunities that lead you to study at further education establishments such as university for a wide range of jobs such as Environmental Consultants and Urban Planners.
