Course summary
AS and A Level in Welsh Second Language encourages learners to study Welsh with interest, enjoyment and enthusiasm, communicate correctly and fluently both orally and in writing within a wide range of situations and contexts. Learners need to be able to write creatively and factually for a range of purposes and analyse familiar and unfamiliar texts independently. They will be encouraged to listen and respond to the opinions of others when expressing a point of view and express an independent opinion, based on knowledge and understanding of literary and factual texts. During the course of study, learners will be given the opportunity to visit the theatre, accompany year 7 on the residential visit to Llangrannog and attend subject based courses. These skills are vital in supporting the learners play a significant role in a bilingual society in Wales at the beginning of the twenty-first century.
