Physical Education

Course summary

Students are encouraged to develop their knowledge and understanding of a variety of key topics. These include the impact of physical activity on the systems of the body, the acquisition of movement skills, biomechanics, exercise physiology, sports psychology and an understanding of the socio-cultural factors that have an impact on the achievement of excellence in physical activities. Students are also assessed in the practical performance of one physical activity and the ability to either coach or officiate in that same activity. Work focuses on the importance of participation and performance in physical activity as part of a balanced, active and healthy lifestyle.
