Business studies is a broad subject which allows an in-depth study of a range of specialities such as management, marketing, operational performance, finance, human resources and the strategic position of a business. It provides students with opportunities to develop entrepreneurial spirit and deep knowledge of academic theory. Studying Business will help students to learn how to work independently, to participate in group work and to carry out research investigations. The course develops students’ independent and critical thinking. It encourages them to take a keen interest in the development of business in the real world. It enables students to develop entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to set up their own business to become financially independent. Topics What is business? Year 12 Business – Internal exams Paper 1 & Paper 2 are assessed by written examination during two 2-hour tests Questions are structured and include: Multiple choice questions Short answer questions, Questions based on case studies Questions requiring extended writing (essays) A-level Business – (after two-year course) – 3 final exams Paper 1, Paper 2 and Paper 3 skills are assessed during three written examinations. Each test lasts 2 hours. The exams include structured questions and several essays. There is no coursework.
