Course Outline / Topics Psychology is a scientific study of the brain, mind and behaviour. It focuses on what people feel, think and sense, as well as why they behave the way they do. Psychology as a science is directly relevant to our daily life. Studying A-level Psychology will help students learn how to complete their work independently and to how carry out research investigations. It will also help discover the flaws in theories and studies Assess strength and weaknesses of theories and studies Encourage to question ideas we tend to take for granted Develop critical thinking skills, scientific mind-set and creativity. YEAR 12 – TRIAL EXAMS Paper 1& 2 are assessed by written examination during two 120 minutes tests. Questions are structured and include: short answer questions, questions based on stimulus material (e.g. everyday life) 16 marks questions requiring extended writing (essay) YEAR 13 –THREE FINAL EXAMS AFTER TWO YEAR COURSE Paper 1, 2 and 3 topics are assessed in three written examinations. Each test lasts 120 minutes and is worth 96 marks. The exams include structured questions and several essays. There is no coursework. Research Methods are taught practically, throughout the year, in all topics, to give students a firm grasp of necessary theoretical and practical research skills.
