Course summary
Students will be introduced to the medium of photography in a practical and theoretical manner. You will explore, research and acquire techniques to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding in a range of photographic media. The focus and aim of the course is to develop an understanding of, and confidence in presenting visual imagery in an artistic way. Students will be encouraged to explore relevant images, artefacts and resources relating to traditional and/or digital photography. Students will theoretically learn about traditional and contemporary methods of photography and put into practice digital and manual techniques to produce their own independent projects. You will demonstrate depth of study in your projects through practical camera work, photographic editing, lighting techniques, drawing skills and analytical writing. Students will be able to understand and develop appropriate ways of recording and communicating intentions, ideas and emotions in the context of Photography.
