Biology A level goes into much more detail than you will have covered at GCSE. It will give you the skills to make connections and associations with all living things around you. Biology helps to develop practical skills, including the ability to plan experiments and manipulate data. This course will appeal to hardworking, dedicated and well organised students who have a good command of written English and good mathematical skills. Being such a broad topic, you’re bound to find a specific area of interest, plus it opens the door to a fantastic range of interesting and diverse careers such as Medicine, Veterinary Science, Biotechnology, sports fitness, paramedic and emergency services and marine conservationist to name a few.
Students choosing to study Biology need to have gained at least a grade 6 in GCSE Biology alongside at least a further grade 6 in another science subject or grade 6-7 in GCSE Combined Science. A minimum Maths Grade 5 is required. You must have a genuine interest in the subject and a commitment to independent learning and demonstrate a willingness to develop their mathematical and extending writing skills.
