Course summary

Appraising Music - As well as the above you will also study two set works from the 21st Century. Music performance and composition Option A: Composing (25%) Performing (35%) Option B: Composing (35%) Performing (25%) For composing in option A you will have to compose two compositions, one to a brief set by the exam board. In option B you will compose 3 compositions one set to a brief set by the exam board and one chosen from an area of study outlined in the specification. For Performing in Option A you will need to do a performance to Grade 6 standard lasting 10 -12 minutes. For Option B you will need to do a performance lasting 6 -8 minutes At A level you will have to study further set works and complete another composition or a longer performance. You have the option to major in performance or in composition. Performances will need to be at Grade 6 or above to obtain the higher band of marks.
