Course content AS (Year 12) AS (H020) Module 1: Development of practical skills in Biology Module 2: Foundations in Biology Module 3: Exchange and Transport Module 4: Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease A Level (H420) Module 1: Development of practical skills in Biology Module 2: Foundations in Biology Module 3: Exchange and Transport Module 4: Biodiversity, Evolution and Disease Module 5: Communications, Homeostasis and Energy Module 6: Genetics Evolution and Ecosystems Other skills developed In Year 12 practical skills will be assessed through written papers at AS. In Year 13 students will receive a Practical Endorsement which will be reported alongside their grade at A Level. Candidates are also invited to participate fully in the opportunities for learning outside the laboratory including attending lectures, visits and field trips. Career value The course provides a suitable foundation for the study of biological science or related courses in higher education. Studying Biology can lead to many different career opportunities including research biology, agriculture, horticulture, conservation, veterinary science, pharmacy, health care and medicine.
