The A-Level Chemistry course develops the subject further by looking at the bonding and dynamics of elements in groups and an increased emphasis on understanding and application rather than recall. The basic concepts of hydrocarbons are also studied, incorporating alcohols and some biochemistry. In the second year, organic chemistry is studied in depth with particular focus on ring chemistry and functional groups and how the functional groups can be synthesised and tested for.
3 exams at the end of Year 13
