Progression This qualification is primarily designed to support progression to employment. Learners completing this qualification could access entry-level roles in areas such as Kennel Assistant, Retail Assistant, Animal Trainer, Animal Technician. Taken alongside A Levels in Biology and Chemistry, it could lead to a degree programme in Animal Management & Welfare, Applied Animal Studies, Zoology, Animal Science & Health. Taken alongside A Level Media, it could lead to a degree programme in Film and Television in the wildlife sector.
GENERIC VOCATIONAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: GCSE 4-9 in English Language & Vocational course at Level 2 Merit (or other subject at grade 5 or above if you have not taken a vocational course) SUBJECT SPECIFIC ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: Grade 4 in GCSE Trilogy Science or GCSE Biology
External Assessment: Unit 3. Set task – After a period of preparation using set information learners take the assessment during a defined window and demonstrate understanding through completion of a vocational task. Internal Assessments: Units 4-7. Learners are given opportunities to: - Demonstrate practical and technical skills using appropriate equipment and processes - Complete realistic tasks to meet specific briefs or particular purposes - Write up the findings of their own research - Use case studies to explore complex or unfamiliar situations - Carry out projects for which they have choice over the direction and outcomes. Including 75 hours of work experience with an employer in the sector.
