Student profile Economics is a challenging subject so students must be prepared to work hard, undertaking super curricular reading around the subject. Students should be interested in current affairs and keep up to date with developments in micro and macro-economics. Progression Higher education courses such as economics degrees with a focus on theory, or degrees in applied economics such as environmental economics, labour economics, public sector economics or monetary economics. Students may choose to study a business economics, mathematical economics or business degree. A wide range of apprenticeships ranging from finance, banking, insurance, accountancy, management and consultancy, to becoming professional economists.
